Early life
Alba was born in Pomona, California, to Mark Alba, who is Mexican American (though both of Jessica Alba's paternal grandparents were born in California), and Catherine Jensen, who has French and Danish ancestry; the two married while in their teenage years. Her maternal grandfather was a Marine NCO for thirty years, serving in the Pacific during WWII, and later as Asst. Drum Major for the United States Marine Band. Alba was raised in an Air Force family, along with her brother, Joshua, an actor who appeared with her in the season one finale of Dark Angel, and her grandparents until she was 17 years old. Her father's Air Force career took the family to Biloxi, Mississippi and Del Rio, Texas, before they settled back in California.

Anthony and Lopez mull collaborative tour
They've acted in films together and collaborated on each other's albums, and now husband-and-wife team Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez are mulling a combined tour.
"Jennifer has never toured," Anthony told Billboard. "I've toured all my life. This is where I can step in and say, 'Oh, my God, this could be fun,' and introduce her to that world."
He added, "It is something she's always wanted to do, but she's never had the time. And I was offered many more films I never took advantage of because I was always on tour. So, yes, we're seriously talking about going out this year (and) putting together an amazing show with just her and myself."
Asked how he balances his own projects with those on which he and Lopez collaborate, Anthony said that "a big part of mine and Jennifer's connection is the understanding that we have a passion for what we do. So, it's just a natural progression to be involved. Me, I cannot sit down and have a conversation about image. That's her strong suit. She picks me up where I'm weak and I elevate her where she's weak. That's where the true partnership comes in."
Anthony is about to hit the big screen in "El Cantante," a biopic of salsa legend Hector Lavoe. Lopez stars in the film as Lavoe's wife, Nilda. The film's soundtrack, to be released July 24, is Anthony's ninth studio album and the first from his new venture with Sony BMG.
"I settled on celebrating (Lavoe's) approach to music," Anthony said of the soundtrack. "I was going to try to learn his phrasing, and try to stay true to what he offered as a singer. That was No. 1. Once I made that decision, I realized that I was in deep s--t, because the hardest part of this whole project was the music -- singing like him, understanding his phrasing. That's when I realized his true genius. That's why they called him 'el Cantante de los Cantantes' (Singer of Singers)."
Anthony said his dedication to salsa will not push future projects to the back burner. "I'm really inspired to do another Spanish ballad album, because (2004's) 'Amar Sin Mentiras' was really groundbreaking for me personally," he said. "It's another way for me to express myself. I think I'll be ready in a couple of months to press the button on a Spanish pop album. As far as (an) English (album) is concerned, I'm not that enthused right now, although I have a couple of tracks I'm into."

Tori Spelling is branching out, having her name licensed to yet another product, jewelry.
The actress has designed a new jewelry line called "The Tori Spelling Collection," which is about to debut on television retailer HSN on July 24th at 1 a.m. and 8 p.m., as part of the company's 30th anniversary celebration.
"I've always loved jewelry and wanted to create a line that captures the essence of chic luxury living...pieces that I would personally wear," Tori said on her getting involved in the business. "Designing this line has been a labor of love, and I can't wait to share it with HSN's customers."
The 12-piece jewelry collection, includes necklaces, earrings, cuffs and bracelets in gold-tone metal and semi-precious stones, will be sold from $29 to $129. The entire collection will also be available at the HSN Website.

The spring television and print advertising campaign for Candie's will feature four celebrities: Singer, actress, megastar Hilary Duff; Grammy nominee Ciara; and actresses Michelle Trachtenberg and Samaire Armstrong. This is the first time the brand has enlisted four stars to appear in an advertising campaign. Past Candie's spokespeople include Destiny's Child and Kelly Clarkson.
Hilary, Ciara, Michelle, and Samaire are all unique in their talent as well as their style. Mixing the four girls in an advertising campaign was the ideal way to showcase all of Candie's product categories which are available nationwide exclusively at Kohl's Department Stores.
Iconix CEO Neil Cole stated: "Bringing together the hottest young stars of Hollywood in one ad campaign is an excellent way speak to young women, who may identify with one or more of the stars. Kohl's has embraced our brand and we are thrilled with the response to Candie's at Kohl's."

The Blade: Trinity actress recently divulged that she is desperate to turn unattractive and gain weight for a gritty film role, in order to prove her acting ability.
Biel said that she wants to prove herself on the big screen and believes that she can get meatier roles if she transforms physically like Oscar winner Charlize Theron did for the 2003 film Monster.
"I always want to try something completely different from what I just did. I would definitely love to take on something that is physically totally different from what I look like and what I'm used to doing, do something like a Monster. It's a dream," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
"I have to push myself and try something I've never tried before, put myself out there, be vulnerable and really take a huge risk," she added.
